Wednesday Evening Club Time Trial Series 2010

FIRST EVENT WEDNESDAY APRIL 7th

Organisers: Peter Rogers and Tim Reeves

This is a series of 22 events held on Wednesday evenings start at 18:45 with last sign on at 18:20 while evenings are short, otherwise 19:00 and 18:40 respectively. The series consists of a 10mile tt based on the UC21/10 course, slightly modified with a start on the A38 immediately adjacent to the Cross/Axbridge crossroads. This type of club event is a good introduction to racing as well as an ideal way to train for "open" events. This is also on a fast course improved for 2007 by significant recent resurfacing. While not a dual carriageway "drag strip" it will be the course to try for those keen on a Personal Best (PB). Prospective members as well as members of other established cycle clubs are welcome. If you are new to cycle racing temporary membership can be arranged on the day. From the 2008 season onwards we shall  share the evening events with Somerset Road Club with each club hosting a club TT on alternate weeks. In Order to ride you need to be a member of a cycling club that is affiliated to CTT otherwise you will need to be a 2nd claim member of a cycling club that is CTT affiliated. However, both clubs will allow you just one ride before you need to join a CTT affiliated club. Entry fee is now £2.00 per person per event, half of which is CTT levy.

The series is varied by having a few sporting 19-mile events on U253* and sometimes (subject to getting promises of sufficient marshalls) a 25-mile event on UC252*. We have the occasional novelty "road bikes only" event i.e. no aero aids like deep-section wheels, pointy helmets, disks, tri-bars, skinsuits etc. And finally Burrington Combe Hill Climb UH26. * At the time-keepers discretion, the 10 mile course can be ridden providing 10 mile riders start first (sign on promptly please).

Parking and "sign on" for all but the hill-climb and Boxing Day events is in the lay-by/picnic area on the right travelling east from the A38 on the A371 towards Cheddar above Axbridge. All our welcome.

The club strongly recommend the used of a hard shell helmet. Riders under 18 years of age MUST wear a hard shell helmet accredited to a recognised standard in order to comply with CTT rules - NO HELMET NO RIDE.

All riders recognise that cycling is a potentially dangerous pastime and shall not hold the Weston Wheelers Cycling Club, its officers or officials responsible for any loss or injury incurred whilst participating in the club TTs.

All members will be entered on to a rota to help with the organising of the evening events, this could be for time keeping or pushing off.
