Saturday 16 April saw Chairman Rob Heathcote and Hon Sec Peter Rogers down at RNAS Yeovilton for the Yeovil 10. Rob improved on last weeks 2-up time to 24:25 while Peter improved on his 2-up time by a considerable 3 minutes to 28:16.
Tim Summerhayes must be training for the club hill-climb already by going to France and riding up various cols in the Morzine area. Here's his report:
"Just got back from a fairly big ride today, went from thonon (400m) to morzine (900m) then up the col de la joux verte which climbs about 900m from morzine
reaching 1760m, it's been used in several tours and hosted stage finishes a couple of times inc 2010. Wasn't that tough a climb, gradient was ok, slow and steady up there no probs, just v long. v imppressive scenary! http://www.climbbybike.com/profile.asp?Climbprofile=Col-de-la-Joux-Verte&MountainID=6148. Was supposed to ride across to chatel but unfortunately the road there was closed and covered in snow so I had to descend back down to morzine, on the way back I decided to add in another col and did the col du corbiere (http://www.cols-cyclisme.com/images/courbes/207.gif), shorter, but good value!
