April 2012 round up

Let me start by reporting that the club has reached a significant milestone in the year.

As most members know, at the 2011 AGM the controversial decision was made that the club would withdraw from running TTs in 2012. Some feared this would result in a significant fall in membership and those fears were well founded as, initially, this is is exactly what happened. However, I'm very pleased to report that with the addition of new members we are now back to where we started!

Anyway, on to who's been doing what (note: all links open a new window or tab).

Tim Summerhayes had an excellent results on the Bristol South CC Open TT on April 7th (more here).

Rob Heathcote rode in the Yeovil 10 TT on the 21st putting up a time of 24:46 in dry but very windy conditions.

Adrian Wood rode in the Exmoor Beauty Cycle Challenge on the 22nd (results + more here) and also competed on the Burnham on Sea Super Sprint Triathlon on the 29th. The latter event effectively became an aquathlon, as the bike leg was cancelled due to the atrocious weather conditions (results + more here).

Peter Rogers has been very active, riding Hardrider events and the odd 10 despite being hampered by a bad back for a few weeks, just enough to make itself felt when racing but not enough to stop him riding. Events/results: 1st April, WTTA h/r at Sutton Benger, Wilts 1:40:20 - 9th April - Northover 2-up 10 at Cross 28:47 - 21st April, Yeovil 10 30:55 - 28th April, Bath CC 10 Cricklade 30:46.

Mike Broadley (me), 14th April, Wiggle New Forest Spring MTB Ride - on my cross bike (more here). On the 29th (the day of the atrocious weather conditions) I ran in the Pensford 10K (more here).

Sorry if I've left anyone out but you should have told me what you did!

Other items of news ..

It's probable that only one of the proposed (club organised) 19 TTs will run - more info to follow when I have it. (This is due to lack of volunteers to help. Personally I  think it's preferable that we just do one event well rather than run two and be struggling).

Finally, the new club kit should arrive by the end of this month; later than expected but let's hope it's worth the wait!
